Motivating Assumptions
It is the position of Grassroots Greening that resolving conflicts between humans and the natural environment will lead to the resolution of almost every trial besetting humans. When applying Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs model on the population scale, you satisfy survival needs (food, sleep, health, belonging, etc.) of a population so the higher-order needs (achievement, respect for others and oneself, morality, acceptance of facts, etc.), of it's individuals are then free upon which to be focused and attained. This leads to optimization of current systems, increased invention and technology, mass self-actualization, and prosperity across the entire population.
We believe this can only be achieved at the population level by the adoption of a "green" lifestyle on a global scale. Living a "green" lifestyle inherently attends to the lower level needs described in the hierarchy. Creating a global movement for living a green lifestyle will require a synergy involving 3 components, education, community and modelling. The web is the perfect tool for promoting and facilitating all three. You can harness the power of the web to foster a desire for knowledge of and love of nature and subsequently a global green lifestyle by a critical mass within which will then go to work resolving the lower survival needs of the remaining individuals.
